For the traditional wedding night, 26 August (https://senderov.net/wedding/sunday/), we recommend attire with Bulgarian folkloric elements. This blog post discusses what this is and how to get it.

Bulgarian folk attire is not uniform and depends on the folkloric region. There are seven folkloric regions in Bulgaria: Northern (Северна България), Thrace (Тракия), Shopska (Шоплук), Dobrudzha (Добруджа), Pirin (Пиринската фолклорна област), Rhodopa (Родопска фолклорна област). The easiest way to get a sense of what traditional attire is to do a Google Image search for Bulgarian traditional attire (българска народна носия). For example, if you are interested in traditional attire from Shopska, you could type “българска народна носия шоплук”. Having said that you probably don’t need such deep knowledge. If you just want some idea, please check Cherga’s pictures from previous weddings (http://cherga.net/pictures.html) or their blog (http://cherga.net/blog/).

The main thing is to have fun, so if you want to obtain attire yourself (eBay, Amazon, etc.), go ahead and do it: it doesn’t have to be a full costume but just an element. However, if you wish, we can assist you with renting a Bulgarian folk costume. For this we would work with a folk ensemble and rent as many costumes as needed. In order for us to arrange this, we would need the following measurements: sex, shoulder to shoulder width and chest circumference. In order to streamline this process we’ve started a Google Sheets document (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17X8ClQFvul7vbjMdBBb2wO8oQbNFUia0Pa3y-4_xHFw/edit?usp=sharing). Please, make an entry in this document if you wish this assist. We are working on arranging the possibility of a trial if you arrive early. This will be announced separately.

P.S.: Please, keep in mind that you need a set of casual/ mountain clothes as well, as you will not be dressed in the attire the whole time.
